چکیده

The quantitative studies on the gastric glands have been carried out by Mall (1892), using the dog's stomachs, by Toldt (1880), Zimmermann (1898), Johnson (1910), and by Scott (1925, 1929), employing the stomach of the human kind as a material. But very few investigations have reported the comparative studies on the quantitative difference of the gastric glands between each part of a stomach. Especially, there were no investigations which made a survey of the quantity of the gastric glandular cavity. The present study was undertaken to compare and investigate the regional difference between each part of a cat's stomach, observing the volume of the glandular cavity in a definite area, the number of the stomach glands, the number of the opening points of the gastric crypts and the length of the gastric gland.

Comparative histology and histochemistry of the gastric glands of cats and dogs.

We performed histological and histochemical investigations on the gastric glands of cats and dogs. So-called cardiac glands in the cat and dog have a small number of the parietal cells and the PAS-positive glandular cells in the base of these glands contain fine pepsinogen granules. Consequently, we consider them as undifferentiated gastric glands, and can find no differences between these glan...

Identification of Helicobacter spp. in gastrointestinal tract, pancreas and hepatobiliary system of stray cats

The aim of the present study was to determine the presence of Helicobacter species in different parts of gastrointestinal tract, hepatobiliary system and pancreas of stray cats. Six different sites at the level of genus, gastric (H. heilmannii and H. felis) and enterohepatic species of Helicobacter were investigated in six cats using species-specific primers by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). ...

Helicobacter pylori infection in the cat: evaluation of gastric colonization, inflammation and function.

BACKGROUND Further elucidation of the consequences of Helicobacter pylori infection on gastric mucosal inflammation and gastric secretory function would be facilitated by an animal model that is susceptible to infection with H. pylori, is broadly similar in gastric physiology and pathology to people, and is amenable to repeated non-invasive evaluation. The goal of this study was to examine the ...

Artikel Thyroidal radioisotope uptake in euthyroid cats : a comparison between 131 I and 99 MTcO

INTRODUCTION The use of radionuclides for evaluating thyroid conditions in cats is well documented. Hyperthyroidism is the most common indication. A feature of hyperthyroidism is an increased uptake of radionuclide. The radionuclides most frequently used for thyroidal imaging are I, I, and the pertechnetate ion of technetium (TcO4). The radioisotopes of iodine are exclusively taken up by the th...

Evaluation of Gastric Lesions Based on Helicobacter pylori and Helicobacter-Like Organisms (HLOs) in Cats; A Histopathological and Bacteriological Study

BACKGROUND The lesions induced by Helicobacter pylori in a candidate animal model should always be examined thoroughly. The resemblance of these lesions to those observed in humans can indicate whether the usage of this model will contribute to the understanding of the various pathogenic mechanisms involved in the development of human H. pylori-associated diseases. OBJECTIVES The aim of this ...
